Robin Harlan is a Licensed Certified Professional Counselor, licensed through the State of Maryland.  She graduated with her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Towson University and has nine years of clinical experience working with adolescents, adults, and families in a community outpatient setting.  She has extensive experience and training in Motivational Interviewing/Enhancement techniques, which has proven to be a highly effective way to work with clients at their own pace to make positive, lasting changes in their lives.  Robin has experience working with clients who struggle with addiction and substance use issues, as well as mental health concerns such as mood disorders and adjustment disorders.

Robin believes that just about anyone can benefit from therapy at some point in their lives.  Therapy can be a powerful tool to facilitate positive changes, given the proper environment, willingness, and therapeutic relationship.  She engages the client based on their own needs and goals, working with them to identify core issues and develop insight into their own thoughts and behaviors.  Robin identifies her theoretical orientation as “eclectic” because she recognizes that not every technique is appropriate or effective for every person.  By using a person-centered approach, she identifies unique and individual differences in each person, which allows her to use a variety of therapeutic tools, including motivational interviewing, mindfulness, and cognitive-behavioral skills.
